In this session, participants will learn more about “Ghost Applicants” and “Pell Runners” – these are scammers that are looking for financial gain by creating fraudulent applications for college admission and moving through the pipeline to enrollment and financial aid. Through the process developed in-house, CT State is able to predict the likelihood of an applicant being fake. The facilitators will show how the current model was developed, how rapidly it can change, and the impact on higher education.
