President’s Message

Tara Walor, President

Greetings NEACRAO Colleagues –

I hope 2018 is off to a great start for you – despite a painful Patriots loss in the Super Bowl… I know many of you are settling into the spring semester, and many more are in the process of shaping your next entering class. The NEACRAO leadership team has been hard at work as well, preparing a great slate of programming for the Summer Workshop, RCD, and the Annual Conference. In early January, a dedicated group of 17 NEACRAO colleagues braved the weather and the Cambridge traffic to come together on MIT’s campus for a day of brainstorming. The energy in the room was high and the ideas were flowing! Thank you to everyone who made time in their busy schedules to attend. Your contributions are invaluable and very much appreciated! The NEACRAO Executive Council will be meeting March 8-9 at the conference location in Newport, RI to begin to hammer out the details and start a framework for our offerings. I’m excited to see how it all comes together!

If all of this sounds fun and making an impact, strategic planning, and shaping your professional growth appeal to you, we want to hear from you. It’s never too late to get involved – whether you have an idea to contribute, or time to volunteer, we’d love to hear from you. We currently have the following leadership opportunities available on the Council: Co-chair, Program and Co-chair, Registration. Please fill out the committee interest form or contact me directly to hear more about these important roles.

Finally, I hope to see many of you in Orlando for AACRAO’s Annual Meeting, March 25-28. Aside from escaping the cold New England winter for a few days, you’ll find AACRAO to be a wonderful opportunity to expand your network and connect with colleagues from around the country, as well as learn from your peers in a variety of professional sessions. We will be having a NEACRAO get together on the Tuesday evening of the conference. Stay tuned for more detailed information on this!

Thank you all for your continued support of NEACRAO. Our members are our greatest asset. If you have any comments, news to share (promotions, etc.), general feedback or suggestions on all things NEACRAO, please don’t hesitate to reach out. This is YOUR organization and it’s my job to ensure that we’re doing our best to provide value to our members. Your input and involvement is important!

Constitution and Bylaw Changes

At the November business meeting, the Executive Board approved proposed changes to NEACRAO’s constitution and bylaws to provide clarification and remove outdated information. All of these changes were approved by membership at the Annual Meeting. View an updated version.

Welcoming New Council Members

At the Annual Meeting in November, we welcomed two new members to leadership roles within NEACRAO, Carnell Jones, and Kaitlyn Santa Lucia. They are both fantastic additions to the leadership of the organization. Congraulations, Carnell and Kaitlyn!
