Meetings & Events
Each year, NEACRAO sponsors a day and a half long conference for the
benefit of its members, of which there are over 1,000. The Annual
Meeting has most recently included over 50 sessions, a keynote speaker,
the annual business meeting and election of officers, greetings and
information from AACRAO and a social event, as well as an exhibit
area for members to converse with vendors and discuss the latest technology.
The Annual Meeting moves to a different New England location every
few years to make travel easy for all members. Recent meetings have
been held in Newport, Rhode Island; Quincy, Massachusetts; Nashua,
New Hampshire and Marlborough, Massachusetts.
NEACRAO also produces a unique function known as Reverse College
Day. This day, usually the day before the Annual Meeting, brings
High School Guidance Counselors and College Admissions Officers
together for a chance to exchange information. A "college fair"
format in the morning allows colleges and guidance counselors time
to talk and exchange information. Workshops for the Guidance Counselors
are also run throughout the day on topics relevant to admission
to higher education.
In addition, the Workshops and Seminars Committee sponsors a workshop
each summer specifically for support staff in Registrar and Admissions
offices to assist them in with the demands of being on the front
lines. Topics have ranged from wellness, to stress in the workplace,
to speaking and writing for the office.
