Annual Meeting and Reverse College Day 2006

2006 Scholarship Recipients Named

Nominations for AACRAO Awards

President's Message

I know that we have all been busy during the summer months with our new freshmen. We've been doing orientations, placement testing, and registrations. I always like to think that this new class is going to be the best class ever.

NEACRAO has also been busy this summer planning for the Annual Meeting and Professional Development sponsored a workshop earlier this month at Springfield College for Registrar and Admissions Office support staff. Given the popularity of last year's FISH! Philosophy workshop the topic was repeated and was again very popular with participants.

With the approaching start of the fall semester, I would just like to remind everyone that Reverse College Day and the NEACRAO Annual meeting should be placed on your “to do list.” Make sure you reserve the dates: November 8-10, 2006. The meeting will be held in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. The Executive Council met in June to put the final touches on the annual meeting program. We will be offering some very dynamic sessions, and some old favorites. AACRAO will be sending Barmak Nassarian and Paul Aucoin, President-elect, to bring us up to speed with what has been happening on the national level.

In addition to preparing for the start of the fall semester and the annual meeting, we are also preparing for AACRAO. This year AACRAO will be held in Boston, Massachusetts from February 28-March 3, 2007. Because New England will be in charge of local arrangements, we will again be looking for your help. I know we can count on our members to help out with the AACRAO annual meeting.

I hope your last days of summer were relaxing. I look forward to seeing everyone in November.

2006 NEACRAO Scholarship Recipients Named

In an effort to promote and reward academic excellence and the pursuit of a post-secondary degree, each year the New England Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers solicits from professional high school guidance personnel the names of and recommendations for a high school graduate who will be enrolling in a NEACRAO member institution in September. This year NEACRAO received hundreds of scholarship applications making it a very difficult decision. The three recipients for 2006 are:

Sally Bush who graduated from The Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT and will be attending the University of Connecticut
Ian Dumont who graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, ME and will be attending Dartmouth College
Colby Eldredge who graduated from Cape Cod Regional Technical HS in Harwich, MA and will be attending Cape Cod Community College

Congratulations and best of luck to our deserving, college-bound students!
